Öl a./Lwd., 57 x 101 cm. Links unten signiert „MHaubtmann“ und datiert „1885“. Rückseitig nummeriertes Etikett „1026“. Originalrahmen (87 x 130 cm). Vorzüglicher Zustand.
Provenienz: Privatsammlung, Deutschland.
Der Künstler bereiste das Nordkap nach 1875. Die beeindruckende Landschaftsschilderung in stimmungsvollem Licht zeigt die felsige Küstenansicht des Nordkaps, teilweise im Polarnebel verhüllt, mit auffliegenden Möwen am mächtigen Massiv und einem Dampfschiff am Horizont. Dem Hauptwerk des Künstlers zuzuordnen.

The artist travelled to the North Cape after 1875. This impressive and very atmospheric landscape features the bold cliffs at the coast of the North Cape under Northern Lights with seagulls at the great rock and a steamboat on the skyline. A main work by the artist.
